“Rabbi Halafta of Kefar Hanania said: when ten sit together and occupy themselves with Torah [i.e. meaningful discussion], the Divine Presence abides among them…”
–Ethics of the Fathers 3:6
“Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name…”
–“Cheers” theme song
One of the great gifts of belonging to a synagogue is the experience of connection, of being with friends and simultaneously being lifted up and inspired as human beings. Kol Shalom is proud to present our new Happy Hour series, where small groups of people can gather and share a favorite beverage while talking on a topic of shared interest. We hope that not only will we learn “Torah’ (understood broadly here as Jewish meaningful conversation), but equally importantly, we will experience “the Divine Presence” because of our time together.
Our Happy Hour groups are limited to 10 people, and RSVPs will be received on a first-come, first-served basis. Please know that if there is a strong interest in a given topic, we will be happy to repeat the topic at a later date to give everyone a chance to participate in the topic that interests you. We want to keep the groups to no larger than 10 people to ensure that conversation will flow, and everyone feels engaged and connected.
