The High Holy Days are over, Sukkot and Shmini Atzeret have passed, but the overwhelming warmth and good spirit of the recent holidays lingers. Despite being limited to meeting virtually, we gathered in large numbers and were inspired by the music and kavanah from Sally and the words of Rabbi Steinlauf and others who spoke to us over these sacred days.
I was moved by an outpouring of community spirit. It is in that vein, that I am announcing the establishment of a new donation category called “Count Your Blessings” which will help sustain our shul, supporting our staff and operations.
I have been inspired by so many of our congregants in the past few weeks, that I intend to make a contribution to the synagogue regularly in honor of one or more of our members who has done a quiet kindness or been of service to the shul, or who for one reason or another makes me count them among my blessings.
This week, I would like to recognize Sandra Riba, and her daughters, Nicole, Daniela, Galia for decorating our sukkah.
I invite you to join me should you like to recognize someone in this way. Gratitude is soothing to the soul, and this small gesture is intended to do good and feel good.
Count your Blessings is now a dropdown option on our website or email Shay HaLevi to make a contribution.
An acknowledgment will be sent to the person being recognized by email and in the monthly newsletter.
We continue to accept contributions when honoring a special event, wishing a refuah shleymah, or remembering a loved one to our other donation funds.
