Their story is the subject of Kol Shalom’s next book discussion: The Last Kings of Shanghai: The Rival Jewish Dynasties that Helped Create Modern China, by Jonathan Kaufman. A PBS documentary, “Harbor from the Holocaust,” recounts the story of the 20,000 Jews who fled to Shanghai.
