In fact, we Jews have always been in a dynamic relationship with our surrounding culture and world. The “constants” of Jewish identity may not have always been as constant as we believe. Join artist Hillel Smith, in conversation with Rabbi Gil Steinlauf, for this deep-dive into the shifting expressions of our Jewishness over the centuries. Smith will take us on a historical tour of Jewish art and design–looking at ritual objects, architecture, typography, and ephemera–to explore what these expressions reveal about what we value and how we see ourselves in relation to the world around us.
