Shlomo Sand’s controversial book, The Invention of the Jewish People, is the next choice of Kol Shalom’s book group. Sands argues that present day Jews descended not from the Jerusalemites exiled by the Romans in the 1st century but from communities of converts in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, especially the Khazars. Discussions are informal and readers are welcome to participate whenever they can.
