Kol Shalom was awarded Gold LEED Certification for its beautifully designed synagogue on March 12, 2013, issued by the U.S. Green Building Council. We believe this to be the first newly constructed synagogue in the United States to achieve this level of LEED certification in the United States. The key elements implemented to achieve this goal were:
“From the moment we began to imagine our future synagogue, the members of Kol Shalom expressed a fervent desire to see this building unfold not only as a tasteful religious and spiritual home but also as a Jewish environmental treasure. Receiving a Gold LEED Certification is the concrete result of the foresight of our builders, the care and ingenuity of our architects, and our commitment and concern for the world around us. We are proud of the example we have set for all.”, Rabbi Jonathan Z. Maltzman, Rabbi Emeritus
