How do we reverse the tide of Jewish assimilation in this country and do so in a way that is consistent with tolerance, inclusiveness, and reason? This question was asked by Alan Dershowitz in his 1997 book as he looked to the new century. The questions he raised take on greater urgency with increasing anti-Semitism. Kol Shalom’s next book selection is Dershowitz’s The Vanishing American Jew: In Search of Jewish Identity for the New Century. Discussions are informal and readers are welcome to participate whenever they can.
