Torah Trope Boot Camp – February 5th and 26th

Kol Shalom Members, Neshama School 5th, 6th, and 7th Graders, and parents are invited to participate in Torah Trope Boot Camp led by Sue Marx, former prayer and Hebrew Teacher at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School.

Objectives of the Torah Trope Boot Camp:

  1. Learn the historical background of the development of trope
  2. Understand the function and purpose of Torah trope
  3. Appreciate the existence of the wide variety of trope systems and melodies
  4. Learn to recognize and sing the major trope phrases
  5. Learn how to “dissect” a Torah verse and apply trope melodies to text

 

Participants will receive a notebook of trope materials, as well as an MP3 recording to use during the sessions and reinforce learning at home. A certificate will be awarded to all participants upon successful completion.

Registration is $18 for congregants (adults and teens) and included in tuition for 5th – 7th grade students, with their parents, when enrolled in the Neshama School.
